The Adventures of

Frog and Toad I

By Oliver

Chapter I

The Swim

It was a beautiful morning. “It’s a sunny day.  Let’s go catch some tasty flies,” said Toad.

“Okay,” said Frog, “but first get dressed and bring fish nets!!!”

“Well, okay,” said Toad nervously.

“And your…”

“Oh no,” said Toad. “I don’t want to bring swimming stuff. I hate swimming.”

“I want to eat!”

“Yes,” groaned Frog.

Frog and Toad went to the pond. Frog found a gigantic fly. “Hello lunch,” giggled the fly.

“Yikes,” shrieked Frog.

“It’s only me,” said a voice.

“Toad?” asked Frog.

“I got the suit to not scare the flies away and I said hello lunch to the fly,” said Toad.

“ I get it,” said Frog. “Now let’s go swimming!”  Now Toad didn’t want to eat anymore.

“Yay!” said Toad. They had a wonderful time swimming.

Chapter II

The Tiger

Frog was thinking of yesterday’s swimming. “What a nice swim,” he thought and thought and thought.  Just then, Toad came banging on the door like mad.

“Help, help, heeeeeeeeelp!” he screamed. “Help meeeee! A tiger is chasing meeeee!”

“What is going on?” thought Frog. He opened the door and what did he see? A gigantic tiger chasing little Toad. In that minute, Toad ran in. After that Frog shut the door. “Where have you come from?” asked Frog.

“From the nearby rainforest,” said Toad excitedly. “We should go there.”

“There’s a rainforest here?” asked Frog.

“Well yeah,” replied Toad. ”It’s very beautiful!” he continued, “We’ll go there together.”

“That sounds good!” said Frog. “Just go out of the village, turn left, go 100 km, and there you are!” said Toad. “There are parrots, monkeys, even tigers and jaguars, cobras, alligators and crocodiles.”

“All those dangerous animals,” sighed Frog.

“Yes Frog,” said Toad.

"Let’s go to the rainforest!” added Frog. So they went. Toad wanted to go to the swamp and Frog wanted to go deep into the forest. They went to the rainforest.

Chapter III

The Frog of the Day

When Toad finally got to the swamp, it was really strange. It was bubbling, yucky and had lots of creatures in it. Toad was lucky because there were no tigers in that place! But there were crocodiles and alligators, as Toad thought.

Frog was now in the middle of the forest and he saw the best thing he ever saw: a scarlet macaw. Just then, Toad found a bridge of a thin stick. “I’ll go over it,” thought Toad. He went and then… SPLAAAASSSSSHHHH!!! A disgusting crocodile pulled him in the moldy water. “HELP!!!” he cried sooooo loud that all the animals, all the trees, and even Frog blew away! But he came back.

    “What happened?” asked Frog.

“A blblblbl croco blblblblb dile blblblblb pulled blblblblb me blblblblb in blblblb in the blblblblblblb water!!!” replied Toad.

“I’ll bring you a stick and hit that crocodile to death,” yelled Frog.

“Not the blblblblb bridge!” screamed Toad as Frog almost reached the bridge. “There blblbl are blblbl better blblbl sticks blblbl than that!”

“I’ll put it back!” replied Frog. That went on for about an hour. Just when the crocodile almost had a big bite of Toad, he had an idea. “Frog, jump into the swamp!” yelled Toad. Without thinking, Frog jumped into the swamp.

“I’ll have a bigger dinner!” thought the crocodile. When the crocodile opened its mouth so he could have a bite, Frog swam out, but Toad didn’t; he didn’t think of it. In the last second, Frog pulled Toad out of the crocodile’s mouth. Toad was so happy he forgot to say thank you. It was night and they slept, but not all night!

Chapter IV

The Nightmare

The best friends had a wonderful and peaceful dinner together. They ate delicious foods like fried flies and seaweed. Then right after the fantastic dinner, they enjoyed it so well that they forgot about the crocodile in the swamp.

“I’ll have a wonderful little bath in the swamp,” said Toad forgetfully. Frog was already eating his last piece of fly on his lily pad. Toad was already in his funny underwear, beginning to jump into the water. Frog saw the crocodile’s eyes sticking out of the water. “No, Toad!!!” said Frog. But it was too late. Toad had already jumped into the water. Guess what? Toad jumped in with his favorite mattress and he sank under the water, so the crocodile saw the mattress. He thought it was Toad!

So Toad got out of the water shivering and cold, “I didn’t know that the water was so cold.” They looked at the crocodile’s last incredible movements; until the mattress popped with a loud BANG. For a happy ending, the crocodile fainted.

After an hour, they went into a tree trunk and went to sleep. Again something woke them up; it was a bat. “I hate bats,” said Toad. Frog agreed. So they slept the rest of the night in an oak tree.

While they slept a little “harmless” fire ant climbed in the tree. Not any fire ant, a magic fire ant. He went to the sleeping Frog and Toad and… shrunk them.

Chapter V

A Dream

When the sun came up, and the birds started to sing, and the two friends woke. They didn’t notice they shrunk. They thought the world got bigger.  They started the day by constructing a ladder with bits of the inside of the tree. It worked! After 1 hour, they got out and everything looked enormous. “Whoa!” said Toad, breaking the silence.  In a while, they noticed that they got smaller, not that the world had gotten bigger. “We have shrunk!” exclaimed Frog.

Everything looked more peaceful than last night. Flowers were blooming, butterflies flew instead of bats, and the swamp was now a lake, which had fish swimming in it instead of crocodiles. They noticed something else. They weren’t in the rainforest anymore. The friends were in a meadow filled with cows, birds, and lots of flowers.  They loved it; they thought it was a dream.

Chapter VI

A Beautiful Sight

Frog and Toad were walking in the boiling grassland for weeks. They walked so long they even passed a month! Toad looked at his mini calendar he stored in his pocket. They went from May 23rd to June 25th. It was hot and they were thirsty. “I want to go back to the rainforest! “ cried Toad impatiently.

Finally they saw a tree and behind it another tree and another and another one, until they finally saw a whole forest in front of them. It was a temperate forest filled with all the stuff they need for years! “This is a great place to stay!” said Frog. “It was pretty nice to stay in the meadow, but now it is really enough.”

“I think it is a good idea to go back to the meadow in the spring or the winter,” explained Toad. It was really hot but the sun did not shine on them, so it didn’t feel as hot.

They found some kind of sweet strawberry and apples. They also found some water, then made apple juice. “I think we need to go back to the meadow,” said Toad. “We need wheat for bread.”

“I’ll deal with that,” said Frog.

”And I’ll deal with the water for the bread and the hunting for good ham,” replied Toad. ”And you, do not leave your hat here Frog.” Frog even took sunglasses.

Toad went in the forest to hunt for wild boar, deer, chicken, etc. Toad went for the wheat in the meadow. While Toad was in the meadow, Frog found the beautiful sight in the forest. The beautiful sight was a beautiful butterfly! It had wings that looked like a leopard’s skin. It was beautiful.

Frog found a wild boar! He just held a knife and cut the wild boar mommy. He was so small the wild boar didn’t see him. He chopped the head off. It was easy.

Toad was waiting hours for Frog. Frog was bringing the wild animal “home” to eat the goods. Frog made pasta from the wheat and eggs Toad collected from a farm. So they ate pasta with tomato sauce. It was tasty! They loved it!

After that they went for a walk in the forest, a deciduous forest to be exact. They almost took home poisonous mushrooms to plant for growing. The reason why they didn’t was because Frog is a mushroom expert, so he knew that it was poisonous. They looked at the oak trees and the blooming flowers. They had a wonderful time in the forest talking about the new adventures they might have.
